Who's who in the Quality Team

Meet the members of the Quality Team here:

Debbie Simmons, Nurse Director
Debbie has over 30 years experience working in the NHS. Her career spans across roles in nursing, midwifery and health visiting and for many years she has specialised in the field of safeguarding children. Debbie has previously worked as Assistant Director for Quality and Clinical Excellence in Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
Debbie is the Berkshire West CCG Nurse Director, where she is the Executive lead for Quality and safeguarding.

Jane Thomson, Assistant Director of Quality and Nursing
Jane has nearly 15 years experience in the NHS. She studied and gained her BSc (Hons) Nursing in 2003 and worked at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital in acute medicine before relocating to North East England. She gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Independent and Supplementary Nurse prescribing whilst working with the area of Substance Misuse. She then relocated to Surrey to join Surrey Primary Care Trust as part of Primary Care Education team. Following the cessation of the service, she them moved into clinical pathway project management. During 2013 she was part of assuring the handover of the Quality agenda from PCT to Clinical Commissioning Groups. Jane joined Berkshire West CCG in 2016 as Assistant Director of Quality and Nursing and brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion for ensuring a high standard of patient care.

Simon Hawkins, Quality Improvement Lead
Simon has over 12 years of experience in the NHS, before working in Quality he worked in Probity at Thames Valley Primary Care Agency focusing on Primary Care Optometry. In 2013 he joined Central Southern CSU working in Quality for Berkshire East CCGs .
Simon has joined Berkshire West CCG as Quality Improvement Lead with a lead on Urgent Care. Over his years in the NHS, Simon has created a number of database systems to streamline and automate processes to support the work of the team.

Saima Hussain-Sheikh, Quality Improvement Support Officer
Saima has nearly ten years of experience in the NHS. With a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Criminology Saima began her career in the private sector providing nursing staff to the healthcare sector. It was here where she developed a passion for the NHS and decided to work for an acute trust in incident management. Saima has a wealth of experience in clinical audit, risk management, clinical governance and quality improvement. Saima joined Berkshire West CCGs in February 2017 and is committed to supporting the providers in delivering the quality agenda.

Veebha Desai, Quality Administrator
Veebha has over ten years working experience in the NHS. She was born and brought up in Malaysia and gained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations, with a minor in Advertising from California State University. She started working for the NHS in 2006, joining Berkshire West CCG in 2015. She is very passionate about working for the NHS and contributing to the health and wellbeing of thousands of people.
