Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Groups – formal approval to merge

We have now received formal approval from NHS England for the proposed merger of the four Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), including; North and West Reading, South Reading, Newbury and District and Wokingham into one CCG to be called Berkshire West CCG.

The merger will come into formal effect on 1st April 2018 and we will work to establish new structure and governance arrangements.

The CCGs now want to focus clinical and managerial leadership on developing new primary care organisations that bring groups of GP practices together and develop an Accountable Care System with other health partners.

The four localities will ensure that our commissioning will remain locally sensitive and that we maintain close working relationships with GP practices, local authorities, Healthwatch and other stakeholders.

If you need medical help and are unsure what to do, call NHS 111 for help and advice. They are available 24 hours a day.
