Local GP appointed an OBE in the outgoing Prime Minister’s honours list

Dr Deborah Milligan, a GP at Swallowfield Medical Practice has been appointed an OBE for her services to public health. Dr Milligan has been a GP for 24 years and also works for the Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) representing Wokingham GP practices. Debbie has a special interest in emergency and palliative care, in particular in improving the NHS's 111 service across the Thames Valley area.

Dr Milligan said: “I am really honoured and it’s a great privilege to have received this honour. It still doesn’t seem quite real. The response I’ve received from friends, family and peers has been incredible.”

Sam Burrows, Deputy Chief Officer and Director of Strategy for Berkshire West CCG said: “We are extremely proud of Dr Milligan being appointed to the honours list and feel that it’s very well deserved. Dr Milligan has made a major contribution to improving the care of our local population through her work as a local GP and her work with us here at Berkshire West CCG.”
