Friends and Family Test

The NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) was created to help service providers and commissioners understand whether their patients, service users, carers, relatives and families are happy with the service provided, or where improvements are needed. It is a quick and anonymous way to give your views after receiving care or treatment across the NHS.

Five reasons why you should take the Friends and Family Test:

  1. It is totally anonymous
  2. It is quick and very simple to complete
  3. It's a chance to have your say and give input to your GP practice
  4. You can give your practice positive feedback, reinforcing the good job they do
  5. It also gives your GP practice evidence on where any changes need to be made

The Friends and Family Test asks people if they would recommend the services they have used and offers a range of responses. When combined with supplementary follow-up questions, the FFT provides a mechanism to highlight both good and poor patient experience. This kind of feedback is vital in transforming NHS services and supporting patient choice. Find out more in the video below:
